Dr. Airey has been attending the Pankey Institute since the late 80's, which is a world renowned institute of higher learning for general dentistry. The institute encompasses the teachings of total oral health care such as growth and development, orthodontics, and comprehensive restorative dentistry. Dr. Airey has many years of continuing education experience with excellent clinicians such as Dr. Dawson, founder of the Pankey Institute, and Dr. Spears of the Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education. He is a member of the American Orthodontics Society, the Academy of General Dentists, the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Association, and also the local study club. In our society the importance of excellent oral health greatly contributes to the overall well being of each individual. The important aspects of comprehensive dentistry include: the temporal mandibular joint, masticatory (facial) muscles, the peridontium (bone around the teeth), the aesthetic (cosmetic) components, and last, but certainly not least, the teeth. It has been shown in many studies that the bacteria in periodontitis (gum disease) has been linked to heart disease Therefore, the philosophy of this practice is to insure to all our patients the correct way to clean the oral cavity and prevent gum disease, by instructing proper techniques in home care and professional cleanings. To improve the overall oral health of each patient, this office will be using different types of modalities, such as; complete occlusal adjustment (balancing of the bite), orthodontics, orthonathic (jaw) surgery, cosmetic dentistry (veneers and whitening),and restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns, bridges, implants and removable teeth).
